Description

Delicious and messy American comfort food featuring a rich, flavorful sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup or tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard (prepared or dry)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pound ground beef or vegetarian substitute

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat and drain excess fat.
  2. Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until softened.
  3. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper.
  4. Simmer the mixture for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Serve the Sloppy Joe mixture on hamburger buns.

Notes

Customize your sauce by adding diced bell peppers or using barbecue sauce instead of ketchup.
