Description
Delicious Nepalese dumplings known as momo, served with a flavorful jhol sauce that enhances their taste.

- For Momo: 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup minced chicken or vegetables
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- For Jhol Sauce: 2 tablespoons roasted sesame seeds
- 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
- 2 tablespoons peanuts
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Make the dough by mixing flour and water, then knead until smooth. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Prepare the filling by mixing minced chicken or vegetables with salt, pepper, and ginger-garlic paste.
- Roll out the dough and cut it into circles. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle and fold to seal.
- Steam the momos for about 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
- For the jhol sauce, blend roasted sesame seeds, tomatoes, and peanuts into a smooth paste.
- In a pot, combine the tomato paste with cumin, turmeric, and chili powder. Add water and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Serve the steamed momos with jhol sauce on the side, allowing them to soak up the flavor.
Notes
Momos can be served steamed for a softer texture or fried for added crunch. Adjust the spiciness of the jhol according to taste.
