Ingredients

Scale
  • For Momo: 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup minced chicken or vegetables
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • For Jhol Sauce: 2 tablespoons roasted sesame seeds
  • 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Make the dough by mixing flour and water, then knead until smooth. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the filling by mixing minced chicken or vegetables with salt, pepper, and ginger-garlic paste.
  3. Roll out the dough and cut it into circles. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle and fold to seal.
  4. Steam the momos for about 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
  5. For the jhol sauce, blend roasted sesame seeds, tomatoes, and peanuts into a smooth paste.
  6. In a pot, combine the tomato paste with cumin, turmeric, and chili powder. Add water and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Serve the steamed momos with jhol sauce on the side, allowing them to soak up the flavor.

Notes

Momos can be served steamed for a softer texture or fried for added crunch. Adjust the spiciness of the jhol according to taste.
