Description
A spicy and tangy sauce that perfectly complements Tibetan and Nepali dumplings, known as Momos.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large tomatoes, diced
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 fresh red chilies, chopped
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a hot pan, add oil and sauté the garlic, ginger, and fresh chilies until fragrant.
- Stir in the chili powder and cumin, cooking for another minute to allow the flavors to bloom.
- Add diced tomatoes and cook until they break down and form a sauce, about 10-15 minutes.
- Stir in the soy sauce, vinegar, and salt to taste. Allow the sauce to simmer until thickened.
- For a smoother sauce, you can blend the mixture (optional).
Notes
Momo sauce can also be used as a dip for snacks or as a sauce for noodles and stir-fries.
