Description

A delightful layered chocolate cake with rich chocolate, crunchy almonds, and sweet caramel, perfect for celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chopped almonds
  • 1 cup chocolate ganache
  • 1/2 cup coconut flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the boiling water until well combined (the batter will be thin).
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Once cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread caramel sauce over it.
  9. Place the second cake layer on top and pour chocolate ganache over the cake.
  10. Sprinkle with chopped almonds and coconut flakes before serving.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or a week in the fridge.
