Description

Deliciously thick and gooey Levain-style cookies that will rival any bakery’s version.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup cold unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chunks
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chunks (optional)
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream cold butter with brown and white sugar until wet sand-like consistency.
  2. Mix in eggs one at a time.
  3. Gradually add flour mixture followed by chocolate and nuts.
  4. Shape the dough into large balls.
  5. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for the first 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 350°F (175°C) for an additional 10-12 minutes.
  6. Let cool slightly before enjoying.

Notes

Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes or overnight for best results. Bake from frozen if needed.
